
As announced in the 2024 Policy Address, the Hong Kong Government has set up the Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS) to attract meritorious local students in pursuing further studies in areas of strategic priority for the development of Hong Kong.
In recognition of HKUST’s efforts in contributing to the strategic priority for the development of Hong Kong, the University Grants Committee (UGC) has awarded HKUST 110 scholarship places for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 academic year each.
Approved Taught Master's Programs
The following Taught Master's programs have been selected by the UGC to award the scholarships to eligible local students:

Eligibility
- Applications are open to local students admitted to the approved Taught Master's programs listed above
- The award of scholarships will be based on merit, taking into accounts the following factors:
- Academic achievements
- Professional qualifications
- Relevant working experience and achievements in other areas
- Planning and commitment in contributing to the relevant priority area(s), joining the relevant industries/sectors, and staying in Hong Kong (or the Greater Bay Area) upon graduation
- Applicants who have been awarded a scholarship under the Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme (TPgFS) in the past for another program will not be considered.
Scholarship Amount
FTSS scholarship awardees are required to pay a minimum tuition being the prevailing rate of the UGC-funded full-time degree programs (i.e. HK$44,500 for 2025/26 academic year and HK$47,000 for 2026/27 academic year). The differences will be subsidised by the scholarships subject to a cap of HK$100,000 for each student for the settlement of tuition fee, regardless of the actual study period of the program and the mode of study.
Application Procedures
- Candidates who are interested in applying for the FTSS scholarship should complete the following steps by the application deadline:
1. Submit your application for admission to Postgraduate Program at the HKUST Online Admission System
2. Complete your FTSS application form here and download the response summary, and
3. Upload the response summary of your FTSS application to the HKUST online application
- Successful candidates will be notified by individual Program Offices via email in mid-to-late July 2025.
- Application Deadline for 2025/26 academic year: 22 June 2025 (Sunday)
