All applicants of MPhil/PhD programs are required to outline their proposed research plan and past research experience in the application.
It is mandatory for applicants of MPhil/PhD programs in Humanities, Social Science and Individualized Interdisciplinary Program (Research Area) to submit an additional research proposal in a specific format.

Submitting forged documents to HKUST is a serious misconduct that the university takes very seriously.
Any applicants found to have submitted falsified, forged, or misleading documents or information will be disqualified from consideration for admission, and any admission offers made will be revoked immediately.
The University has a zero-tolerance policy towards admission fraud. There were previous instances where students found to have submitted forged documents during admission were expelled from the University.
