Eligibility
To be eligible for PG Visiting Internship Study at HKUST, you should:
- currently be a registered postgraduate student at a recognized tertiary institution outside Hong Kong;
- have an educational background deemed satisfactory by the major department as a PG Visiting Internship Student; and
- have gained agreement in advance from your home institution.

Fees
- Application fee: HK$300
- Tuition fee for 2024/25 academic year: HK$1,754 for the 1-credit project course#
#The tuition fee will be HK$1,860 for 2025/26 academic year, and be adjusted to HK$1,960 for 2026/27 and HK$2,070 for 2027/28.
Financial Assistance
PG Visiting Internship Students are in general expected to have adequate financial means to support themselves while they are in Hong Kong.
To promote diversity, the University provides sponsorship to selected international visiting interns under the International Visiting Internship Student Program. The sponsorship is subject to the agreement of supervisor and the availability of funds.
Student Visa/ Entry Permit
It takes times for the Hong Kong Immigration Department to process a student visa/ entry permit application. Please apply right after you have accepted the admission offer. For short term studies, student visas/entry permits are normally granted for durations not exceeding 180 days. More details on student visa application available here.
Insurance Requirements
All non-local PG Visiting Internship Students should have to subscribe to the HKUST Compulsory Travel Insurance Plan. Please do so at least one month before the commencement of the visiting period.

Accommodation
Priority for university housing is given to regular MPhil and PhD students. As such, please be prepared that you may have to arrange your own off-campus accommodation. The Off-Campus Housing Section of Student Housing & Residential Life Office provides general assistance for students looking for off-campus accommodation.
