Surrounded by limpid sea water and deep blue sky, the beautiful campus helps students to relax from their busy assignments. We are offered plenty of opportunities here to train critical mindsets, expand international horizons, improve technical skills and build social networks. My peers are always here to help out when I face difficulties. We grow for better together. Come join HKUST and find your own sunshine and tomorrow!

Even though I joined the University, first and foremost, to do research, the courses and workshops offered have helped me become a well-rounded scientist. The HK PhD Fellowship has relieved my financial worries and provided funds for me to travel to conferences, summer schools and workshops. In addition, it has given me a network of students working in an array of fields very different from my own.

I feel blessed to work with world-class talent on one of the most beautiful campuses ever seen. The strategic location of HKUST bridges the gap between academia and industry and thus helps in the understanding of an ever changing real-world. I believe that my studies at this intellectually vibrant place will help me secure a place among world-class researchers.

Supported by a Fulbright Junior Research Award, I spent a fruitful year in the U.S. and Switzerland. My project was to explore the nature and the evolution of the earth's atmosphere, and how it affects our lives. It was a great experience that broadened my academic and personal horizons.

As a PhD student at HKUST, I realize life here is full of challenges, which always go along with chances, the chance to turn you into a good researcher and the chance to teach you how to deal with unfamiliar or even difficult situations with calm and confidence. Finally you just find with no surprise that after years of training in HKUST, you are already fully-prepared for a challenging and exciting future. HKUST life helps me enjoy my present life, and will also enable me to enjoy my life in the future.

Through the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP), I have learned and understood more about different cultures in Asia, especially about the relations between China and Japan. Also, the one-month summer camp organized by AFLSP has taught me about the problems that the countries in Asia were facing and how we could help fix them through different discussions. What's more, I have made some great friends whom I treasure for life.

With a passion for exploring the unexplored, I began my research journey during my undergraduate studies at HKUST. I have been focusing on identifying the exposure pathways in the etiology of Balkan endemic nephropathy (BEN) and finding solutions for the outstanding contamination. The project is in collaboration with a Serbian researcher and one of our publications was awarded the 2016 JAFC Research Article of the Year Award Lectureship (AGRO division).
