It is an amazing experience pursuing my graduate studies at HKUST. It is not just a university which provides high quality education, it's also a place where you can experience a new society, ponder new ideas, and develop a professional network with renowned scientists and entrepreneurs.

I really liked HKUST when I came to HKUST as a visiting intern. A combination of world class faculty, excellent facilities, stunning sea views and ample opportunities is surely unique. And that is why I'm pursuing my PhD studies here now. I am also thilled to become a Hong Kong PhD Fellowship awardee here.

HKUST is a place where your academic ambitions can be achieved. If you encounter academic problems, the faculty, all experts in their respective areas, are able to give you specific and useful advice. The university provides lots of activities that encourage students to connect and communicate with each other - you can make friends from different countries and experience their unique culture. Various scholarships are offered to help cover the expenses for living in Hong Kong.

I get to wear many hats at HKUST, each of which is very interesting in its own right. As a student, I learn and appreciate the work of scholars; as a Teaching Assistant, I present and communicate knowledge to keen learners; as a Hall Tutor, I interact with youthful and creative minds; and as a Researcher, I solve problems and hopefully, in due course, create new knowledge.

With a passion for exploring the unexplored, I began my research journey during my undergraduate studies at HKUST. I have been focusing on identifying the exposure pathways in the etiology of Balkan endemic nephropathy (BEN) and finding solutions for the outstanding contamination. The project is in collaboration with a Serbian researcher and one of our publications was awarded the 2016 JAFC Research Article of the Year Award Lectureship (AGRO division).

HKUST is great. I have the opportunity of working as part of a top-notch research group made up of wonderful people. The experience is truly enriching and has broadened my horizons. The university has excellent facilities both for academic and recreational activities. As a bonus the campus has an idyllic setting with the sea on one side and lush green hills on the other.

Life at HKUST is like a box of chocolates with various flavors. You can experience both Eastern and Western cultures on campus. Studying here combines tough research work with an environment that makes life easy. Every day is new and you never know what experiences it will bring.

Competent and diligent students, the acceptance and tolerance of diversified views, as well as its zooming and booming status, have made HKUST fertile soil for the nourishment and nurture of young scholars. All these are important factors that have allowed me to survive and thrive in the academia, and so I can proudly say I would never trade my years at HKUST for anything.
